Every 4th and 5th grader at Laurel has daily access to their own Dell Netbook.
The focus is on integrating 21st Century thinking skills, technology, and literacy across the school day.
The students use netbooks to access their online classroom via Blackboard. It is here that they read and create blogs and wikis, check classroom assignments, and collaborate with other students. They also use the netbooks to access Renaissance Learning in order to take Accelerated Reading (AR) quizzes online and practice keyboarding.
In order to effectively use these computers with students our 4th and 5th grade teachers and our media specialist have received six full days of district training.
