At Laurel Elementary School of Arts and Technology, there are two Integrated Services Programs.
The Multi-Categorical Program is for students who require a mild to moderate level of support in the area of their disability. Students can receive this support inside the general education classroom or outside of the general education classroom in small, focused, pull-out groups. Based on their needs, these students can also receive support in the areas of Speech and Language, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy.
The Integrated Learning Supports (ILS) program provides support for students with severe disabilities throughout their school day in their homeroom(s) as well as in a small group instructional setting. In addition to language and math instruction, ILS instruction includes communication (speech/language), motor (occupational and/or physical therapy) adaptive skills, social skills and independence. Students in the ILS program also participate in a weekly community-based activity which is theme related and/or learning a recreational/leisure skill. The ILS program was started at Laurel 10 years ago.[[wysiwyg_imageupload:38:]]
