Visual Arts

Hello, my name is Mrs. Saunders.  I get the pleasure of teaching Laurel students art every week. In our art classroom we create a lot of fun projects while learning about the artistic process.  We experiment with various art techniques to create visual products.  The goal is to encourage students to be creative and expressive through their art.  We celebrate all art and encourage students to embrace the process!

Throughout the year we focus on various art styles from around the world along with specific artists and art history.  Students are taught various art techniques such as sculpture, origami, printmaking, painting, and drawing. Laurel students create their own art portfolio.  Their portfolio is a collection of their art that is kept in the art room until they choose what to display at the Spring Student Showcase. After the Showcase, our students will bring home all of their artwork.  It is always fun to see the collections our artists create!
