Every other year, staff from Laurel Elementary take about 20 students, grades 4 and 5, to Crow Canyon Archaeological Center in Cortez, Colorado. This opportunity is completely voluntary trip that does require payment.  Depending on the year, there may be some scholarship and fundraising opportunities to help cover the cost of the trip. 

In this five-day, four-night program, students learn the basics of Pueblo Indians history, work with artifacts in a real archaeological laboratory, and excavate at a simulated site presenting one of three different time periods in Pueblo history. Throughout the given school year, students attend monthly meetings to strengthen relationships with their fellow “Crow Canyonites” and to gain knowledge about the trip. It’s a wonderful opportunity that your child won’t want to miss!
